Hey guys! Hope you’ve had a great week and are as stoked as I am that the weekend is only a flick away. I myself have been feeling a lot happier about the weather this week. We are definitely making good progress! Moving on, I’m going to switch gears a bit today and share with you my current favourite hair products. Ever since I decided to go to the lighter side, my hair has been in need of more products. I love trying different hair products and these five have made it into my hair repertoire. So read on as it’s about to get hairy in here.
I want to give you a little background on my hair type before I jump right into it. I have a lot of hair however the follicles of my hair are fine. (If that makes any sense) Therefore, I feel my hair is more prone to breakage. Fine hair is more susceptible to getting tangled which is one of the biggest culprits to breakage. Not to mention I love putting heat to my head with the help of curlers and straighteners. Finally, considering my incessant need to dye my hair a different colour more times than there are seasons in a year, you can see why I need the help of hair products. I will be doing a blog post in the near future about all the things I do for hair care. Here are the products that I’m currently loving and using on the regular.
Miss Universe Style Illuminate by CHI
This CHI curling iron comes with a titanium barrel. Through this, it promises to curl your hair with grace with a smooth finish. I love the size of it as it creates the perfect sized curls for my hair. As previously mentioned, I have fine hair so it is difficult for me to hold curls. Therefore, you could imagine my excitement when I came across this CHI. My curls last a LONG time for me now. The only thing you have to watch out for is that it gets really hot. It also doesn’t come with a heat control switch therefore, I make sure I don’t hold it in my hair for too long.

Tangle Teezer hairbrush
The Tangle Teezer is a brand based out of London, created by Shaun Pulfrey. Shaun Pulfrey started off as a colourist in 1978. Through his career, he got the inspiration to create the perfect detangling brush. Celebs like Victoria Beckham and Cara Delevingne endorses this amazing hair product. The brush gently detangles while adding shine to dry hair. When I used it for the first time, I felt like I was getting a scalp massage. The soft tips felt very comforting on the scalp. I noticed little tension while brushing and fewer hairs got pulled out. Furthermore, the handle is ergonomic for comfort for both left and right handed individuals. (For all my lefties out there!)
Fun fact: Shaun got rejected on Dragon’s Den, 9 years ago. Currently, Tangle Teezer is worth £200m.
fhi heat platform flat iron
The FHI Flat Iron has a special spot in my heart for me because Ben bought it for me for Christmas. My old one was horrible and would pull out my hairs over time. So I thought it was so sweet that he was perceptive enough to know that I needed a new straightener in my life. The FHI flat iron is ceramic and has three scratch resistant layers. This is great news for those who use this hair tool on the regular. The Tourmaline infused plates also keep the hair from frizzing out from the humidity. What I love about this straightener the most is that it has adjustable heat settings. Depending on your need, it serves you a wide range of temperatures. You can also curl your hair with this beauty however, I haven’t gotten around to being a pro at that yet?
OUAI Volume Shampoo
The OUAI Hair Care line was created by Jen Atkins. Jen Atkins is one of the top celebrity hairstyles. She works with celebs like Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians. Due to Ouai’s Smart Technology Complex™ it leaves your hair more moisturized and full. I don’t know whether it was the shampoo or just the dryness of my hair from all the dying, but my hair feels more voluminous. I especially love the smell of the shampoo as it has an amazing fresh, floral perfume smell to it.
TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo
I used to wash my hair every day as I thought that was hygienic. Until, my stylist yelled at me. He told me that my hair will get more damaged that way. Thankfully he told me to chill and to embrace dry shampoo. That’s when I went on the hunt for the best one. I’ve tried quite a bit of them: the more expensive ones, the highest ranked ones. And TRESemmé Dry Shampoo, which can be found at your local drugstore, has been my hands down favourite so far. It really promises the volume that I need when my hair feels greasy. Just remember to gently blend it into your scalp so you don’t see residue.
Fanola No Yellow Shampoo
Purple shampoo should be every blonde girl’s best friend. Anyone that has dyed, light hair I’m sure has experienced their hair eventually turning brassy. Asian hair in general is known to have more of a warm, red undertone which leads to brassier tones. And in comes purple shampoo! Going back to the colour wheel, purple is the opposite colour of yellow. Therefore the purple helps cancel the yellow tone from your hair. I love the Fanola shampoo because it’s very pigmented and extremely effective. I only use it once a week or whenever I feel my hair is getting very brassy, as it can be very drying. Just be careful though as it will stain EVERYTHING if you’re not quick with it. I wear gloves now and give my tub a nice scrub and rinse after use.
