Now that Spring is finally here, it’s that time again! Coachella is one of the biggest music festivals in the world and it starts tomorrow. It features different genres of music including Indie, Rock, Hip-Hop and EDM. However, Coachella is so much more than just a music festival. It’s a cultural event swarming with celebs and music enthusiasts who come out with their favourite festival inspired outfits.
What I love about festival fashion is that literally anything goes. From the fringe, to the leather, to the futuristic jewelry, it’s so amazing to see all the creative outfits that ‘Chella goers put together. I love it because as big as the music is for Coachella, so is the fashion. Although I’m not attending this year, I wanted to do a Coachella inspired outfit post to tickle your festival fancy.
As a result, I kept my festival inspired outfit pretty simple and economically friendly. I found these cute high waisted flower shorts at Zara. In reality, you would call it a skort as it doubles as a skirt and shorts. I would avoid wearing a shorter skirt to a festival as there may be times you want to sit and chill on the grass and you don’t want to be pulling a Britney on anyone. These shorts are so comfortable and I love the feminine hem with frills. I coupled up the shorts with a basic white crop top tee.
The main focus was the futuristic, hippie jewelry that styled with this outfit. I wore a body chain to spice up my basic tee. I love how the gold chain on my shoulders make the outfit look futuristic and avant-garde. Instead of going with a traditional flower headpiece, I created a DIY headpiece using a vintage necklace. Just put my front hair in a bun to get it out of my face then wrapped the pearl necklace around the bun. I then secured the headpiece where I wanted it with a bobby pin on each side. And ta-da I became a vintage Asian hippie!
In addition, Coachella takes place in Indio, California where the sun is HOT. (unlike Toronto😅) When I’m thinking of outfits for a music festival, I always check the weather first. Then I come up with an outfit where I won’t be sweating buckets in the sun during the day but I can also transform it into something more chilly friendly in the evening. Due to this, I wrapped my denim jacket around my waist for convenience.
Last but not least, for the sake of you being able to see my legs in the picture (I’m only 5’3), I’m wearing my favourite pair of wedges. However, I would suggest you wear a comfortable pair of flats whether it be gladiator flats, some dope runners or booties. Take it from someone who wore wedges to her first music festival. I literally had to be carried out and couldn’t feel my feet for weeks.
Well, that wraps up my Coachella inspired outfit post! If you’re attending Coachella, I’m totally jealous and I hope you have a fabulous time! And if you’re not, I hope that I got you pumped for all the other music festivals that are coming up this year🙌🏼 Thanks so much for reading and see you lovers next week xx
